To JCI delegates traveling to Japan to participate in the 2020 JCI World Congress Yokohama

Thank you for considering to participate in the 2020 JCI World Congress Yokohama on-site amid the continuing global COVID-19 pandemic.
We, the COC, are working with the JCI secretariat members to enable on-site participation and thoroughly preparing for anti-infection measures. However, as of today, the Japanese government still takes border enforcement measures with travelers from all countries and regions, including various restrictions such as the general rule in which all travelers from outside Japan are prohibited from leaving their hotels in Japan for 14 days after arrival.

Additionally, even for travelers from countries and regions that are exempted from VISAs by the Japanese government, the exemption has been suspended.

If you plan to participate in the World Congress on-site, confirm the latest measures by the Japanese government from the above and process necessary procedures including the acquisition of VISAs on an individual basis. If there is anything the COC can cooperate with, such as the issuance of an official invitation, please contact us. We will do our best to assist travel.

Currently, some travelers who enter Japan for short business purposes based on the Business Track scheme may be allowed to leave their hotels during the 14-day restriction period if it is for business purposes and if travel within the country is limited. However, 1. travelers using the Business Track scheme may not attend public events since entry to facilities with unspecified participants is not permitted, 2. travelers attending general events may not use the scheme as it is limited to truly urgent and critical travel purposes. As such, it is unlikely that the Business Track scheme will apply to participants of the World Congress. For details on countries applicable to the scheme and the Japanese government’s border enforcement measures, please refer to the website below.

Please refer to the topics as needed as it will be updated with beneficial information for participants up until the World Congress day.
We very much look forward to your online and on-site participation.
